Who we are

Our mission and vision

Our mission

We support and bring awareness to maternal and paternal holistic care.

We host weekly grief and expectant support groups, advocate for the underinsured and uninsured along with helping connect individuals to local mental health professionals. We join other organizations and agencies to provide resources beyond our scope. We partner with local hospitals and clinicians to provide, educate, and advocate for maternal and paternal well-being.

Our goal is to lower the risk of maternal and infant mortality in urban communities by providing resources to promote healthy family mental and economic growth.

Our vision

Our vision is to expand, innovate, and implement diverse approaches that support, educate, and heal individuals by promoting economic stability, physical and emotional well-being, and strengthening maternal and infant health.

Founder’s story

Alexandra Ayaaya

Founder and Executive Director

Alexandra is the Founder and Executive Director of Fruitful Wombs, an organization dedicated to supporting women and families through pregnancy, birth, postpartum, bereavement, and the emotional challenges that can accompany the journey of motherhood. Through maternal education, doula support, bereavement care, community outreach, and access to mental-health resources, Fruitful Wombs works to ensure that women do not have to navigate these experiences alone.

She has served her community for more than 15 years, working across social services, healthcare administration, and community-based support, connecting individuals and families with governmental, private, and community resources. Her work has evolved from supporting families experiencing loss to helping women receive compassionate, culturally responsive care before, during, and after childbirth.

After experiencing the loss of her eighth pregnancy, the loss of her father, the loss of her marriage, and a profound sense of losing herself, Alexandra began to understand deeply what it means to need someone willing to walk beside you through difficult seasons. Those experiences became part of the foundation for her commitment to creating spaces where women can be heard, supported, educated, and reminded that they do not have to face life's challenges alone.

She is passionate about maternal health, bereavement, mental health, and the power of compassionate support. As a Certified Birth and Bereavement Doula and Certified Faith-Based Clinical Counselor, she is particularly passionate about bringing together practical support, emotional care, education, and faith in ways that honor the whole woman: body, mind, and spirit.

Today, her work through Fruitful Wombs extends beyond individual support. She is committed to developing and equipping doulas, strengthening community-based maternal care, partnering with healthcare professionals and organizations, and helping build systems where women can access the support and resources they need.

Her dedication remains rooted in the same belief that began this journey: no one should have to walk through life's hardest moments alone. There is always someone willing to listen, someone willing to help, and sometimes, someone willing to walk the journey with you until you find your way forward.
